The tepidarium-meditarium
Wellness in a class of its own
You are surrounded by a gentle radiant heat and time will appear to flow by slowly. The gentle radiant heat from the walls, benches and seating areas creates an agreeable warmth of 40°C.
Treat your immune system to this strengthening treatment which is also gentle on the circulation. A regenerative bath in warm air. The temperature is between 35°C und 40°C, the room climate is dry and particularly gentle and non irritating – ideal for regeneration. Recommended time in tepidarium: 30 minutes.
The tepidarium is a body warming sauna in which the body temperature is heated to 39°C. This activates the immune system and detoxifies and purges the body.
Sauna experience in different variations
The 4 types of sauna
The classic Finnish sauna: temperature: 80 – 100°C, humidity: 5 – 12%
The classic Finnish sauna incorporates two basic elements: the heating up of the body in the sauna and the cooling down afterwards whereby the alternation between the heat and the cold is extreme. In the Finnish sauna the air is very hot and dry. Despite these contrasts, doctors recommend this type of sauna to a wide target group as a relaxing and immune strengthening treatment. The careful alternation between the hot sauna and the cold shower and relaxing calm ensures vitality, strengthening of the body’s defences and mobilisation of the immune system.
The soft steam bath: temperature: 40° – 55°C, humidity: 50 – 60%
The steam bath is a sauna variety which is gentle on the circulation. Similar to the Finnish sauna, the body responds with dilated blood vessels and sweating. In the cooling down phase, the blood’s oxygen content improves. The elimination of built up substances in the body is aided and the body’s defence system boosted.
The herbal sauna: temperature: 40° – 50°C, humidity: 60 – 65%
In the herbal sauna you should inhale deeply – the various herbal extracts e.g. camomile, eucalyptus, mint and lemon vitalise body and mind. Particularly beneficial for respiratory ailments.
Tepidarium-meditarium: temperature: 40° – 55°C humidity : 10 – 30%
A tepidarium / meditarium is gentle yet also stimulating for the body. The room temperature which is close to body temperature creates a healthy heat which strengthens the immune system. A good preventative and healing treatment which offers perfect relaxation and regeneration for both young and old.
Infrared cabin
Experience natural solar energy
Infrared radiation is a form of natural solar energy which directly heats objects without using the air as a medium for heat transfer. This means about 80 % of the light energy is not converted into heat until it meets solid matter.
Infrared is divided into three categories:
- Infrared C: from 3,000 nm to 10,000 nm (dark radiation = not visible radiation)
- Infrared B: from 1,400 nm to 3,000 nm (light pink to orange radiation = in dark, visible radiation)
- Infrared A: from 750 nm to 1,480 nm (red radiation = the familiar red light = visible radiation)
The shortwave radiation, similar to the sun, of the infrared B radiator deeply penetrates the skin’s tissue layers and creates a beneficial warmth. The results: increased circulation and dilation of blood vessels which helps reduce metabolic slag within the body and boosts the immune system.
The increased blood supply to the skin also intensively cleanses the skin and promotes the elasticity of connective tissue and skin structure. You are left with wonderfully soft and smooth skin which is also able to absorb skin care and cosmetic products much quicker.
The herbal sauna
Health and well-being
Those who find the classic sauna too hot and dry and the steam bath too humid, should try the herbal sauna.
Already the Romans with their Roman springs were familiar with the benefits of radiation heat for health and well-being. Combined with select herbs, this offers a beneficial environment for body and soul. There is a separate niche for each visitor. Water is sprayed onto the fresh herbs over the sauna oven which raises the humidity in the cabin and creates a wonderfully herbal fragrance.
The air temperature in the herbal sauna is 50°C with 80% humidity.
Recommended length of visit: 20 – 30 minutes.
